Back-to-back sweeping wins for Americans at SWATCH FIVB

2008-06-30来源:
(BEIJING, June 30) -- By defeating the German pair of Jonas Reckermann and Mischa Urbatzka 29-27 and 21-15 in 56 minutes, America's Dalhausser and Rogers won a back-to-back victory this time around in Stavanger, Norway, after capturing last week's gold title in Paris stop of SWATCH FIVB.

This is the first time that Americans finished first in Stavanger while gold medals for the previous nine Norwegian events were pocketed by Brazilians. The American duo received first-place prize money plus a special commemorative Viking sword for the victory. Dalhausser was also named the SWATCH most outstanding player of the event.

With Misty and Kerri's Saturday win, Americans once again topped this week's SWATCH FIVB podiums for both men and women. The Stavanger triumph also marks the first post-1992 consecutive titles claimed by American men's beach volleyballers on the international circuit. The legendary tandem of Sinjin Smith and Randy Stoklos posted back-to-back wins in Rio de Janeiro and Sydney in 1992.
