Field set for Moscow SWATCH FIVB event

(BEIJING, July 1) -- As the fourth and also the next to last qualifying beach volleyball event before the Olympic Games, SWATCH FIVB World Tour Moscow stop kicks off on Monday. This is the first time in ten years that Moscow hosts the SWATCH FIVB event.

Moscow 2008 Grand Slam will be played at Poklonnay Gora (Victory Park). Monday features the women's Country Quota matches, followed by Tuesday's qualifier in which Main Draw teams will be determined.

Men's Country Quota matches are scheduled on Tuesday, with the Qualification Tournament on Wednesday to set field for Thursday's Main Draw competition. Women's and men's podium placement matches are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh of the United States top the women's Olympic qualifying list with a total of nearly perfect 6,440 points. On the men's side, the battle is still going on between Emanuel Rego/Ricardo Santos of Brazil and Phil Dalhausser/Todd Rogers of the United States. After capturing Gold at the SWATCH FIVB World Tour Grand Slam events in Paris and Stavanger, Dalhausser and Rogers now hold a sold total of 5,460 points, coming next only to Emanuel and Ricardo who lead the list by having compiled 5,500 points.
