Algerian judokas to fight for Olympic medals

(BEIJING, July 2) -- Ten qualified Olympic judokas from Algeria will leave Spain for Germany to continue a series of warm-up competitions in the run-up to the upcoming Beijing Olympics.

According to the Algerian Judo Federation, the five men and five women will compete in the following classes:

Men's -60kg, -66kg, -73kg, -90kg and -100kg

Women's -48kg, -52kg, -57kg, -63kg, -70kg

Judo is a traditionally strong sport of Algeria, and the sport is widely followed by the Algerian public.

President Mustapha Berraf of the Algerian Olympic Committee said the Algerian players are going all out to prepare for the Beijing Olympic Games.

Olympic qualifiers in five sports, including Judo, Boxing and Table Tennis, will reach Seoul for adaptive training before the Summer Games start.
