The 22-year-old Felix won three gold medals in the 2007 IAAF World Championships in Osaka, becoming the second female athlete to win three gold medals at a single edition of the IAAF World Championships after Marita Koch in 1983. Felix took part in the last Olympics in Athens and finished as a silver medalist in the 200 m behind Jamaican Veronica Campbell. Her personal best so far in the 200 m is 21.81 seconds, which she achieved in the 2007 Osaka Championships.

As for the future, "My next goal is not the world record, but a gold in Beijing. I want to take it step by step," she said.

Muna Lee, who came in second with 21.99 seconds, and Marshevet Hooker, who came in third with 22.20 seconds, took the last two spots for Beijing. Lauryn Williams trailed Hooker by 0.1 seconds in the 200 m, but she had already secured an Olympic spot in the 100 meters.
