Third stage of Slalom World Cup concludes

(BEIJING, July 8) -- The International Canoe Federation Slalom Racing World Cup 2008 ended on July 6 with the conclusion of the third stage in Augsburg, Germany. Erik Pfannmoller of Germany won the K1 Men's race with a total time of 193.03 seconds. Frenchman, Benoit Peschier trailed Pfannmoller by 2.70 seconds, placing second. In third place was Scott Parsons of the United States with 195.79 seconds.

Austria's Katrina Lawrence was the champion in the K1 Women's race in this stage with 216.01 seconds. She placed ahead of Jana Dukatova of Slovenia, who stood second with 217.06 seconds. Czech Marie Rihoskova ranked third with 217.70 seconds.

In the C2 Men's race, Slovakia was the biggest winner, clinching the first and second spots in this competition. Twins Peter and Pavol Hochschorner completed the two runs in the semifinal and final in 216.77 seconds to place them in first place, ahead of brothers Peter and Ladislav Skantar who placed second with a time of 219.42 and Germans Kay and Robby Simon with 221.13.

The world cup series was a great opportunity for the athletes to practice before the upcoming Olympic Games.
