USA Diving confirms 12-person Olympic roster

2008-07-14来源:
(BEIJING, July 14) -- Eight divers have been added to the US Olympic Diving team after a five-day selection camp that concluded on July 6 at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, completing the USA's 12-person roster. Four divers qualified for the team at the US Olympic Team Trial in Indianapolis in June.

Laura Wilkinson, three-time Olympic champion, is among the veterans on the team. She will compete in the 10m Individual event. Haley Ishimatsu and Mary Beth Dunnichay, who are just 15 years old, are the youngest on the team.

The USA has qualified for all of the Diving events at the Beijing Olympics including both Individual and Synchronized events. This will be the first time that the USA takes part in all of the events since 1996, which gives the Americans a good chance to bounce back from being shutout in the Diving competitions in Athens in 2004 -- the first time in 92 years that the USA had not earned a medal in Diving at the Summer Games.

The Beijing Olympic Diving events will kick off on August 10 at the Water Cube in Beijing.
