Selection of British Olympic Athletics team begins

(BEIJING, July 15) -- The British Olympic Association (BOA) compiled a draft selection of Athletics members for its Beijing Olympic team on Monday, according to the BOA official website.

Candidates include Phillips Idowu, Triple Jump gold medalist at the 2008 International Association of Athletics Federations ( IAAF) World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain; Christine Ohuruogu and Nicola Sanders, 400m gold and silver medalists, respectively, at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics in Osaka; Marlon Devonish, 4x100m relay gold medalist in the 2004 Athens Games; and Kelly Sotherton, Heptathlon bronze medalist in the 2004 Athens Games and silver medalist at the 2008 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

The selection of team members will be finalized on Saturday, July 19.
