Oberto and Gutierrez out, but Manu back in two weeks

(BEIJING, July 14) -- Injury upon injury has been threatening the Argentinean men’s basketball team’s chance of defending its title of Olympic champion. On July 11, team physician Diego Grippo revealed that Fabricio Oberto and Leonardo Gutierrez will be out for a week due to muscular problems.

There is some good news though, as their top gun, Manu Ginobili, who has been sidelined due to an ankle injury, will be ready for the Beijing Olympics, according to San Antonio Spurs’ physician Chad Bergman. “I think Manu will be in good condition in two weeks,” Bergman said. “Manu Ginobili doesn't feel any pain and he is well, improving.”

Bergman also expressed confidence in the Argentinean physician team led by Grippo, adding that he would return to San Antonio soon, as Ginobili was in good hands.

Ginobili was the Best Sixth Man award winner of the last NBA season. His full recovery is the best news the Argentineans can hope for.
