(BEIJING,August4)-- Jaime Marti of Spain, Men's Individual Saber competitor, is now busy preparing for the upcoming event in Beijing. The world eighth-ranked Spaniard expressed his confidence for the Beijing Olympics in an interview with an Olympic News Service (ONS) reporter after training at the Fencing Hall on August 4.

"I feel like anything could happen. I've already qualified to be here and I've proven myself by winning medals at various World Cups. I think I can make it [winning the Gold medal]. I would say anything can happen."

Marti is aware of the toughness of the competition he faces.

"There are many strong fencers among the 15 [athletes] who are competing for the Men's Individual Saber gold medal, like Aldo Montano [of Italy], Stanislav Pozdnyakov [of Russia], as well as Mihai Covaliu[of Romania], who is amazing because he fences in a great way."

The Spanish fencer spoke highly of the fencers from the host country China.

"I've fenced against them before. They are becoming great fencers. I feel that they can do anything at these Games."
