Text A  A Beautiful Dress

One day Mrs. Jones went shopping. When her husband came home in the evening, she began to tell him about a beautiful cotton dress.
有一天，Mrs. Jones去购物。当他丈夫晚上回家时，她就开始跟他丈夫说看到的一条美丽的纯棉裙子。

“I saw it in a shop this morning,” she said, “and...” “And you want to buy it,” said her husband. “How much does it cost?”
“我今天早上在一家店里看到它的，”她说，“还有...”“还有你想要买它”她丈夫说，“多少钱？”

“Forty pounds.”
“40英镑。”

“Forty pounds for a cotton dress? That is too much!”
“四十英镑买一条纯棉的裙子，那太贵了！”

But every evening, when Mr. Jones came back from work, his wife continued to speak only about the dress, and at last, after a week, he said, “Oh, buy the dress! Here is the money!” She was very happy.
但是每天晚上，当Mr. Jones工作回来，他妻子就不断地只谈论那条裙子，最后，一个星期的持续以后，他说：“哦，买了那条裙子吧，给你钱！”她很高兴。

But the next evening, when Mr. Jones came home and asked, “Have you got the famous dress?” she said, “No.”
但是第二天晚上，Mrs. Jones一回来就问：“买了那条有名的裙子了吗？”她说：“没有。”

“Why not?” he said.
“为什么不买？”他问。

“Well, it was still in the window of the shop after a week, so I thought, nobody else wants this dress, so I don't want it either.”
“嗯，因为它仍然在那家店的镜柜里已经一星期了，所以我觉得，没有人想要那条裙子，所以我也不想要了。”

Text B  Which Bus Shall I Take?

Jane Foster has just met Henry Taylor. Jane is on her way to the hospital to see her friend, Susan Green.

HENRY: Where are you going, Jane?
HENRY：你要去哪里，Jane？

JANE: I'm going to the hospital to see Susan Green.

HENRY: I saw her yesterday. She was a little better.
HENRY：我昨天去看过她了，她已经有些好转了。

JANE: Must I catch a number 7 bus to get there?
JANE：我只能坐7路车去那里吗？

HENRY: No, you needn't. A number 13 bus will also take you to the hospital.
HENRY：不，不是。13路车也能把你送到医院。

JANE: Number 13 buses run much more frequently, don't they?
JANE：13路车会比较畅通，是吗？

HENRY: Yes. I caught a number 7 bus yesterday, and I had to wait for half an hour at the bus stop.
HENRY：是的，我昨天坐的是7路车，但我在车站等了半个小时才等到车。

JANE: Thank you, Henry. I'll get a number 13.
JANE：谢谢你HENRY，我会坐13路车。

HENRY: But number 13 buses leave far from the centre of town. You'll have to walk two miles to catch one.
HENRY：但是13路车离镇中心很远，你得再走两英里里才能坐到车。
