用:这个习语表示很认真、很感兴趣地去听别人讲事情。
意:专心致志地听着
例: Now tell rne about your trip to Africa. I'rn all ears.
来给我讲讲你去非洲旅行的事,我很想听:
The children were all ears as the old man told them a fairy tale.
老人讲神话故事时,孩子们全神贯注地听着。

feel one'S ears buring

用:这个习语有时也用my ears are burning的形式。
意:耳朵发烧,假想可能正被人谈论着(而中国人则多在打喷嚏时认为是有人在谈论自己)
例,I felt my ears burning last night. Therc must be svrneone talking about me.
我昨晚耳朵发烧,肯定有人在念叨我

give sb. a thick ear

用:(常用来威胁、警告别人)后面多跟if条件从句。也可以说:sb.wilt geta thick ear或box sb.'s ears〕
意:打某人一巴掌、一耳光
例,I' 11 give you a thick car if you don't stop it!

He'll get a thick ear if he tells me any more Iies.

用:指听到消息、警告、口信等后,立刻就忘记。
意:左耳进,右耳出;全当耳边风
例 our warnings just went in one ear and out the other.
我们的警告,全当作耳旁风了。
You can't expect her to retnernber anything--what you're saying is going in one ear and out the other?

意:(多指对音乐的欣赏能力)对二能欣赏;有欣赏…的能力;对一很理解、了解
例. She has a goad ear for music.
她很会欣赏音乐。
He doesn't like concerts because he has no ear for music.
他不喜欢音乐会,因为他不会欣赏音乐。

keep your ears to the ground

用:这个习语中的keep可换成hay。或has; your也可换为其他人称,如his,her等等:。
意:注意观察周围人们的舆论及时事发展动向,留意可能会发生的事,以保持头脑清晰跟上形势的发展
例. Just keep your ears to the ground; I've heard a rumour that there is going to be a new manager to take over old John'sposition.
