这三个词的外貌颇相像，但读音和词义各不相同。

diary／'dairi／是“日记”（a daily record of events in one's life）或“日记本”。例：

keeping a diary will do us a lot of good．

dairy／'de+ri／是“牛奶店”或“乳品场”（ a place where milk，butter or cheese is produced or sold）。例：
