Sudan and China presented to the world a model of strategic relations based on mutual respect, joint interests and noninterference in the internal affairs, a senior Sudanese official said here Monday.
Awad Ahmed al-Jazz, Sudanese Minister of Finance and National Economy and chairman of the Higher Committee for the Celebration of the Golden Jubilee of the Sudanese-Chinese Relations, made the remarks at the Forum on Sino-Sudanese relation under the theme of "50 Years of Cooperation and Mutual Respect."
"Sudan and China have managed to established a model of relations between countries and peoples in spite of a long distance between them and different languages and cultures," al-Jazz told the forum.
He recalled that in the past 50 years, the relations between Sudan and China have witnessed a continuous promotions without any obstacles and difficulties.
The golden jubilee celebrations were meant to bring to the forefront those ties as a model for the humanity around the world, said al-Jazz, stressing that Sudan would promote the relations because it enjoys the natural potentials that could made it a field of mutual interests.www.hxen.net
The Sudanese official also praised China's supports and efforts for realizing a political solution for the Darfur issue in Sudan, saying that China is one of the first countries which answered demands and provided assistance to Darfur.
Chinese Ambassador to Sudan Li Chengwen said that China exercised an independent foreign policy and the relations between China and Sudan demonstrated the values and principles on which China's foreign policy was based.
He reiterated that China will continue to protect the mutual interests and reinforce the stability in Sudan.
He renewed his country's call on all concerned parties in Sudan to work for reaching a resolution to all issues through dialogue and negotiations in place of confrontation.
Sudan and China established diplomatic ties on Feb. 4, 1959.
