A plane crash Thursday killed two people near Joliet Regional airport in U.S. Illinois State, local media reported.
Local police confirmed the crash at the airport in the west of the state. But police officers were unable to immediately determine whether the crash was caused by a fire or vice versa.
"We don’t know if the plane was taking off or landing, we’re still trying to piece that together," police officer Albert said.
Witnesses said the plane was approaching a runway when it appeared to burst into flames and then crashed, which police refused to confirm.
Police said the specifics reported by some local media had not been confirmed.
