愿上帝保佑窝囊的美国

对此谁会有异议呢？没错，有钱人也许会，不过他们在选民中占不了太大比例。所以现在银行得交新的“责任费”，单独免税项目要受限，布什政府出台的减税政策也要撤销。
And who would argue with that? Yes, the rich might, but they don't count for much at the polls. So now there's a new bank 'responsibility fee', limits on itemized deductions and the repeal of the Bush tax cuts.
2011年预算基本上就是这个样子──由窝囊的政治家们编制，给窝囊的民众他们想要的。
And that, more or less, is the 2011 budget - concocted by our cowardly politicians to give the cowardly people what they want.
政治家们明白如此巨额预算赤字是大错特错，但他们没有任何作为。跟知道赤字大有问题但无动于衷的大多数美国人一样。我们都太害怕、也太自私，而不去做该做的事。
The politicians know these huge budget deficits are a great wrong, but still they do nothing about it. Just as most Americans know the deficits are a great wrong, but do nothing about it. We're all too afraid - and too selfish to do what's right.
看看白宫和国会的提案──要建立一个18人的两党联合委员会削减赤字。征税和开支或许是国会最基本的职责。但显而易见，我们的国会议员却没有足够的胆量去好好实施。
Just look at the White House and Congressional proposals to create a special 18 member bi-partisan commission to cut the deficit. Taxing and spending is perhaps the most fundamental duty of our Congress. But apparently it's not one our Congressmen are brave enough to carry out properly.
尽管去骂那些政治家好了，不过先得骂自己。他们是你们选出来的──而且要是他们显示出勇气、而不是一副窝囊相，你们很可能就不会选他们了。你们会把票投给承诺削减福利的政治家吗？会选那种发誓决不会为你家乡的特殊地方建设项目提供资金的政治家吗？
So curse the politicians, but first curse yourself. You elect them - and odds are you wouldn't if they showed courage instead of cowardice. Would you vote for the politician who promised to cut your entitlements? Who vowed never to offer up that special pork-barrel project for your hometown?
历史经验表明你们不会这么干。所以，最终窝囊的民众会安于拿出窝囊提案的窝囊政治家。
History says you wouldn't. So in the end, a cowardly people will be comfortable with the cowardly politicians who put together a cowardly budget.

Next year, our country will be carrying around $14 trillion in debt - $45,000 for each and every American.
面对如此吓人的数目，我们只能寄希望于美国拿出点勇气来。但你们的州长、国会议员甚至你们的总统都拿不出这份勇气。
Given these scary sums, we can only hope America will find some courage. But it won't come from your Governor, your Congressman or even your President.
对于你们这群窝囊废来说，也就只能这样了。
To all you cowards out there, it can only come from you.
