3. Join a Fitness Program – There are so many different types of things you can join to meet new people. Just by joining a gym, you can meet a new friend on the treadmill next to you. But, if you join a yoga or kick boxing class, you not only get into shape, but will be around the same people multiple times a week and you’ll quickly get to know them. There are so many different types of classes that you can even join more than one, which will not only keep you in shape, but help you get into a group of friends.

4. Get to Know Your Neighbors – Depending on where you’re living, instead of ignoring the people who live around you, chat with them when you pass them in the hall or on the street. A simple, “How’s it going?” could lead to a fun conversation. It’s a bonus if you have moved to a new city with random roommates because you can easily join in on the things that they do. So, next time you swing by the mailbox or take out the trash, try to see if you spot anyone your age that could be a potential friend.

No matter how you go about meeting new people, just try to be friendly and outgoing and you’ll make friends pretty quickly. The very beginning might feel intimidating and scary since you’re alone, but don’t give up. You’ll never forget the first friend you make in the new place. The main thing to remember is to always say yes when you get invited. It might be a little awkward at first, but you will be happy that did it in the end.
