A number of universities have reduced holidays for the coming National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, as students are encouraged not to leave campus for nonessential travel to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
国内多所高校决定缩短即将到来的国庆中秋长假，鼓励学生非必要不离校，以防止新冠肺炎的传播。

This year's National Day holiday, which runs from Oct 1 to 8, has been extended one day as Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Oct 1.
今年10月1日恰逢中秋节，因此国庆假期比往年多了一天，从10月1日一直持续至10月8日。

Hubei University in Wuhan, for instance, has cut the eight-day holiday to a one-day break, but will begin the winter vacation at an earlier date as compensation.

North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power in Zhengzhou, Henan province, has halved the holiday to four days. It will start winter vacation a week earlier than scheduled instead.
