Z-Welcome back. It is letter time now.

Helmut Matt from Germany wrote in saying:

Today I was really shocked by your reports and photos of the severe earthquake in the Chinese province of Yunnan. Let me please assure you about my feelings of sympathy and sorrow for China and the earthquake victims. As I also live in an earthquake region, I know the fearful feelings when the ground moves and everything around you is in motion.

Thank you, Helmut, it is so kind of you to say so. If you follow the news, you will know, the central government and local ones have gone all out to help those in need. I am sure that the life will be restored to normal soon.

Y_And Helmut continued to say that: I really enjoyed listening to your programs again and my favorites were "China Horizons" "in the Spotlight" and "voices from other lands".

Of course I would never miss "Listeners' Garden", which I love very much. Actually in summer months I enjoy "Listeners' Garden" while working in my garden or sitting on one of my garden terraces. It's wonderful to enjoy good radio broadcasts accompanied by the singing of hundreds of birds, smelling the scent of jasmine, lilies and roses - just marvelous!

Thank you so much for liking our programs including Listeners’ Garden. And it is really marvelous that you can enjoy listening to the radio while gardening. I also had jasmine at home when I was child. It smelled really good.

Z_And Helmut also sent us some three pictures, which he took last Saturday. He said quote “I downsized the files for you and I hope, they are ok and you like them. I also hope you guys will visit us here one day, when you come to Europe. “ end quote

Well, thank you very much. Of course we like your pictures. And indeed I want to go to travel in Europe one day in the near future. Germany is definitely one of my destinations now.

Y_Helmut is also asking for China Roots. He wrote: For a few weeks I've miss one of my favorite CRI feature programs: What happened to "China Roots"? Did you stop or pause the show? I really hope there will be a relaunch very soon. I am a great enthusiast of Chinese traditional music.

So our dear listeners, if you really like China Roots, do write in. We will collect all the requests and report to the program director. Probably we could have the program back or at least we can have more traditional Chinese music in CRI’s programs.

Z_Yes, Yunfeng. Maybe we can play some in our garden.

Y_That is a great idea. But first let’s finish the letters.

Chima Nwankwo from Nigeria wrote in asking Why CRI is not providing sports news to Africa.

Chima says quote " as an Africa, I feel that China is overlooking a continent that produces some of the world's greatest sports people." End quote.

No, we are not. Chima. CRI does have sports news broadcast in Africa. I have been to Nigeria. I know that your people like sports, especially football, so much that almost all radio stations have specific radio news for sports. CRI could not provide sports news only. But I surely will advise our editors to add more sports news in our Africa broadcast.

And by the way, when mentioning Nigeria, many Chinese would say, “yeah, they play football well.”

Z__Muhammad Chishti from Pakistan wrote in saying

We held a meeting and discussed the matters of a club and tuition centre. Students want CRI to launch programes in which information about the Chinese educational system should be given and should inform them how to get an education in China.

Ok, Muhammad we will soon be back to introduce the Chinese educational system after this break.
