Massive Almond Cake Unveiled   

A group of 2,008 young people from Guangdong province and Hong Kong special administrative region have made a 155.2 kg almond cake in Zhongshan, Guangdong.

The cake has a diameter of 106.8 cm and stands 23.8 cm high.

The confection is thought to be the world's heaviest almond cake, a favorite snack in southern China.

They unveiled the cake last Monday to mark the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Olympic Panda to Travel to Beijing

Eight giant pandas will travel to Beijing for an Olympic tour in May.

The pandas, winners of an online poll, were unveiled Saturday at Wolong's China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Sichuan Province.

Officials at the center said the eight Olympic pandas have been moved to a special park until they head to Beijing on May 24.

The pandas will stay in Beijing for six months, and are expected to begin meeting visitors on May 30.

Man Faces Charges from Dangerous Reptiles 

A central Kentucky man is facing more than 20 charges after a variety of reptiles were found at his home. But the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources said 36 year old Freddy Stone of Campbellsville, wasn't home when officers seized the animals from his home. (www.Hxen.com)

The agency said Stone's wife told officers her husband was at a hospital having fingers amputated after suffering snakebite.

The officers seized seven rattlesnakes, a gaboon viper, a king cobra, an iguana, two monitor lizards, two alligators, a boa constrictor and a python from the Stones' home.

Freddy Stone faces 15 counts of transporting wildlife into Kentucky without a transportation permit and 10 counts of possessing inherently dangerous animals.
