Marking the 100-day countdown to the Beijing Games, a multitude of other activities were also held across China to gain public momentum.

In Qin Huangdao, which will host Olympic football competitions, some retired teachers wrote poems to express their best wishes. Jing Guofang is one of them.

"On this special day when the Olympic Games is only 100 days away, we wrote a poem titled 'Olympics, we are always prepared' to show our support. We hope to spread the happiness of the Olympics. We are ready to share this splendid sports extravaganza with the rest of the world."(wwW.hxen.net)

Some 30 retired teachers composed a song tailored for the Olympics. Zhao Cunmao, a 76-year-old man, said all the old people are delighted to write and sing it aloud to support the Olympics.

"Through the move, we can serve the cultural construction of our community, as well as serve the Olympics."

In Shanghai, one of the co-host cities of the 2008 Olympics, a gala was held to mark the special occasion.

The audience joined singers as they sang the song "We are ready", expressing enthusiasm for the great games. Artists from Tibet were also present at the event. They performed folk dances and said they were awaiting the Beijing Games with great fervor.
