CRI听力:Taiwan Delegation Leaves the Mainland
Chiang Pin-kun, chairman of the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation, has ended his four-day visit to the mainland and returned to Taiwan.
Leaders from the mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits, or ARATS, saw Chiang off.
At the airport, Chiang said the two sides had made great progress in their relations.
"We have achieved very fruitful results. It's rather surprising that we accomplished signing the second agreement in three days. In the future, I believe we will reach more agreements successively. This shows that the relations across the straits have made a great leap forward." (Www.hxen.net)
During his visit, Chiang met with his counterpart, ARATS chairman Chen Yunlin, marking the two organizations' first talks after a suspension of nine years.
The two signed an agreement to allow more mainland tourists to visit Taiwan starting in July. They also agreed to begin operating chartered flights for tour groups on weekends starting next month.
