CRI听力：Hu Jintao Greets Chinese Olympic Athletes

On Wednesday, Chinese President Hu Jintao visited the country's athletes who are going to participate in the Olympics.

Hu Jintao expressed the hope that athletes could endeavor with strong minds and achieve good results in the Games, winning glory for the country.

Our reporter Zheng Chenguang brings more.

Hu Jintao visited the training venues in General Administration of Sports of China in Beijing, where Chinese athletes are racing against time to practice.

When meeting the national gymnastics team, Hu Jintao said he hopes the gymnasts can keep a positive attitude during the Games.

"The Beijing Olympics will begin in 16 days. I was touched by your spirit in training. I hope you can continue your practice under the guidance of coach and in a scientific manner. I wish you can achieve good performance in the Games."

Hu Jintao then went to visit table tennis team. The president watched a whole exercise match in the venue.

The Chinese table tennis team has won 16 gold medals in Olympic history and the sport is quite popular in China.

Hu Jintao hopes the team can enhance a more pragmatic manner in the last stage of practice and promote the world's development of the sport when competing with athletes from other countries.

The president has also visited the women's volleyball team, the country' only group that has got gold medals in ball games in Olympics.(Www.hxen.net)

"You are a good model in our country's sports industry. Your spirit has ever encouraged all the athletes. I hope you can unite and cooperate with each other in the coming Olympic Games and get good results."

Chinese athletes won 32 gold medals in Athens Olympics four years ago. This time, they are not only competing for sound performance, but also for deeper friendship with people all over the world and a good image for China.
