CRI听力: Nepal Votes in First President after Abolishing Monarchy

Nepal's governing assembly has elected the new republic's first president since it abolished the centuries-old monarchy in May.
Ram Baran Yadav, a physician from the Madheshi ethnic community in southern Nepal, was elected on Monday as the country's first president.
Kul Bahadur Gurung, Chairman of Nepal's Constituent Assembly, made the official announcement.
"I announce that Ram Baran Yadav has been elected as the president of Nepal by securing the majority votes."
Yadav, of the Nepali Congress party, received 308 votes, giving him the majority of votes in the 594-seat assembly that was required to win. (Www.hXen.com)
Yadav has served twice as health minister and has been elected twice to parliament.
The newly elected president is set to be sworn in on Wednesday.
