CRI听力:Chinese, German Leaders Promise Joint Efforts in Fighting Global Financial Crisis
Chinese and German leaders have promised to work together in combating the global financial crisis and to nurture strong trade ties between their countries.
Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao was visiting Berlin on the second leg of a European tour.
While meeting with German chancellor Angela Merkel, he stressed that foreign firms were welcome to take part in construction projects as part of a 586 billion US dollar stimulus package.
"We welcome foreign firms participating actively in infrastructure programmes and in projects to improve technical standards. And, according to our law, foreign projects are treated equally in China, whether it is a joint venture or has foreign shareholder associations.
China has seen its red-hot economic growth cool and Germany has slipped into recession as the financial crisis has weighed on demand worldwide.
Merkel said Germany is very interested in infrastructure projects, particularly in railway construction.
Wen Jiabao on Wednesday addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where he argued that the robustness of China's economy, which grew at 9 percent last year, could help stem the financial crisis.
He also plans to visit Spain, Britain and the European Union's headquarters in Brussels.
