Reporter:
Premier Wen Jiabao said he believed his "trip of confidence" to Europe has fulfilled the initial target of revitalizing the world's confidence and expanding cooperation during the harsh economic period.

He made the remark upon answering questions raised by reporters from China Radio International.

"I do bear friendship, confidence and will of cooperation during my European visit on China's New Year. I think it's a success. China and European countries share huge potentials economically and we also have huge capability in dealing with financial crisis. Under the current circumstances, China and the whole world are getting united at an uNPRecedented pace."

During his week-long visit to Europe, Wen Jiabao reiterated the stances of the Chinese government, saying members of the international community should jointly confront with the economic upheaval.

"China should run its own affairs well first, which is a great contribution to the world. We should also join hands to enhance collaboration and cooperation to push forward the development of the international financial system in trend of fair, justice, containment and order."

During the last leg of his tour, the Premier delivered a speech at Cambridge University. He told the audiende that cooperation is a top priority to deal with the global financial meltdown.

"To work together and tide over the difficulties has become our top priority."

Wen Jiabao also suggested that more practical helps be provided for developing countries at difficult phases at present.

In addition, the Chinese Premier called for serious reflection on existing economic systems and theories in the face of the current financial crisis.

On China's development, Wen Jiabao said the argument that a big power is bound to seek hegemony does not apply to China.

"Seeking hegemony goes against China's cultural tradition as well as the will of the Chinese people. China's development does not harm or threaten anyone. China will be a peace-loving country, a country that is eager to learn from and cooperate with others, and committed to building a harmonious world."

Wen Jiabao stressed the importance of seeing China with a view of development in the changing world, calling on more people, to turn their eyes to China and see the country in the light of its development.

On China-EU relations, the Chinese premier said that cooperation between China and the EU is now standing at a new historical starting point.(www.hxen.net)
