The delegation, headed by Taipei museum director Chou Kung-shin, arrived in Beijing on Saturday.
Chou Kung-shin said the main purpose of her visit to Beijing was to improve cultural exchanges.
"We are very grateful that officials from the Beijing Palace Museum arranged our visit to the Forbidden City, and we have had the chance to see the maintenance of the palaces. The two sides also planned to discuss working together on academic research, exhibits and publishing.
Taipei's "National Palace Museum" is known for its rich collection of objects taken from Beijing's former Imperial Palace, or the Forbidden City, in 1949 at the end of the civil war.
The then-Kuomintang government shipped nearly 3,000 boxes containing about 600,000 valuable items from Beijing to Taipei.
