The Chinese missile destroyer Wuhan has encountered a dust-like haze in the Gulf of Aden since Friday while escorting five Chinese merchant vessels through the pirate infested waters.
A meterological expert onboard says the adverse weather will last two to three days.
In the meantime, the Wuhan is taking measures to ensure the merchant vessels have a safe voyage.
Yao Junbiao is the destroyer's chief officer.(www.hxen.net)
"We have used advanced navigation and radar facilities to keep us informed of the latest situation of this area. We have also expanded the navigation distance of the merchant vessels and adjusted their navigation speeds."
The five merchant vessels from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong make up the 20th convoy the Wuhan has escorted.
