CRI听力:Knowledge of Food Addictives Needed

China's newly approved Food Safety Law has stipulated a ban on all chemicals and materials other than authorized additives in food production, saying "no additives will be allowed unless they can be proven both necessary and safe."
And according to the Ministry of Health, a national hotline to report illegal food additives has been set up recently in the wake of the toxic milk powder scandal.
An article in Wuhan Evening News says the scandal taught people that melamine is used by dairy producers as a type of additive and they should always read the ingredients first. But since most people can't tell safe additives from harmful ones, the hotline is useless. (www.hxen.net)
The article suggests that the government popularize public knowledge of additives through websites and television programs.
