CRI听力:Guangzhou Daily-Government make detailed spending of the stimulus package public
In his government work report delivered at this year's session of the National People's Congress, Premier Wen Jiabao detailed, amongst other things, government plans for the 4 trillion yuan economic stimulus package.
Guangzhou Daily published a commentary, applauding the report which gives the public a clear overview on the country's economic plan and infuses confidence in Chinese people.
The author of the article points out that given current difficult economic times; the public is more concerned about the 4 trillion yuan stimulus package. They want to know where big sums of money will be invested, and how the package can boost the economy and better people's quality of life. Under such circumstances, the report provided a platform for the public to see where the government is concerned. (www.hXen.com)
The author also points out that just letting the public know where money will be invested is not enough. The government should also be under public supervision and scrutiny on specific projects. The author says with such big investment, it's necessary to have transparency on projects which can't bring benefit to the public and only showcase the political achievements of officials.
The author finally suggests that the government should put the detailed spending information of the stimulus package online, so that the public can read it at any time.
