CRI听力：Jiangxi Provicial Website: Expansion of College Enrollment is not the Major Cause of Employmen

The reality of grim employment prospects for 6 million undergraduates this year has become a national concern. Many believe the continuously increasing enrollment of college students is the major cause for a competitive 2009 job market.

However, during the ongoing 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a committee member raised his point of view, saying that the enrollment expansion is not the core point for employment difficulty in 2009.(www.hXen.com)

The Jiangxi provincial website published an article agreeing with this point.

The author of the article points out that the current competitive job market is a result of complex social problems. Global financial turmoil has sharply decreased job vacancies and the domestic industrial structure should be further improved to provide more opportunities. Meanwhile, the author says some college students can't meet the market demand. They are short of working experience and have limited professional knowledge, which makes it harder for them to find a job.

The author further argues, university enrollment should be expanded so that more young people have access to a college education, helping to bring greater equality. A country with a high number of educated youth but low employment rate is better than a country of high employment rate and high illiteracy.
