The question of how China will spend its four trillion yuan economic stimulus plan has drawn wide attention from the public.
The Beijing Youth Daily published an article suggested refining the responsibility tracking mechanism.
The article says the existing system only focuses on nailing corruption in government-funded projects.
But for projects that lead to problems like pollution and extravagant spending, there are no rules to charge the officials who make the investment decision. (www.hxen.net)
The author urges lawmakers to introduce regulations that can track down officials responsible for making the wrong investment decisions.
Otherwise, the author warns, the 4-trillion-yuan stimulus package could go to waste.
