CRI听力: Chrysler to Sell Asset to Fiat
Attorneys for Chrysler said on Friday the company would file a motion to sell substantially all of its assets to Italian automaker Fiat Group SpA.
The assets will not include eight plants, five of which the automaker intends to shut by the end of next year.
Martin Bienenstock, Attorney for Chrysler Financial revealed that these workers would be offered jobs at other plants.(www.hXen.com)
"I think they're going to save the jobs, the company, the auto industry, the Midwest and restart the economy in 30 to 60 days. 30 to 60 days to get the company up back and running and the rest of the bankruptcy will take a long time, but a new Chrysler will be up and running."
The first hearing on the bankruptcy case opened Friday, focused on maintaining wages and benefits for workers, and warrantees for buyers.
Another hearing was scheduled for Monday morning, when Chrysler will apply for using 4.5 billion US dollars in loans from the US and Canadian governments to keep operating under bankruptcy protection.
