CRI听力:Beijing News: Uncover the Truth to Eliminate Misunderstanding
When the Environmental Protection Bureau of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province recently held a press conference on the province's environmental situation, journalists walked out in protest after spokesmen refused to reveal the names of enterprises that were emitting untreated pollutants.
The Beijing News published an editorial on Sunday, saying the reporters' action reflects the concern of the general public on environmental issues. It noted that the decision of provincial officials not to release the information has triggered severe criticism and debate.(www.hXen.com)
But the editorial noted that provincial officials continue to decline to issue the blacklist, claiming that the walkout by journalists was a "misunderstanding." The editorial quoted some officials who said they had no intention of concealing the truth. They could not present the blacklist during the briefing because their assistants forgot to prepare the list for them.
The editorial pointed out that the officials' claim was groundless and would not help eliminate public skepticism. It urged provincial officials to release the blacklist as a gesture of their sincerity and responsibility towards the public
