CRI听力: Japan Confirms Its First Domestic Infection of New Flu
Japan's first domestic case of infection with the A/H1N1 influenza has been confirmed.
Japanese Health Minister Yoichi Masuzoe made public the case Saturday.
"It is confirmed that we have a first case of swine flu caught inside the country. We ask for citizens to act calmly based on accurate information that the government provides."(www.hxen.net)
The patient is a 17-year-old male high school student in Kobe city, who has no record of overseas travel.
The student's family members have shown no sign of symptoms of flu A/H1N1 infection.
It is the first confirmed case in the country after four patients were found infected at an airport after returning from the United States on May 8.
Local media reports two other students at the same high school with no record of overseas travel have also tested positive for the new flu in local laboratory tests.
The government's health watchdog is analyzing the specimens taken from them at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases in Tokyo.
Health Minister Yoichi Masuzoe said that schools in Kobe would be closed for seven days to try to prevent further spread.
