CRI听力: KMT Chairman Starts Eight-Day Mainland Visit
Wu Poh-hsiung, Chairman of Taiwan's ruling Kuomingtang Party, has arrived in Beijing for an eight-day visit to the mainland.
He says a prosperous cross-Straits tie is welcomed by the public.(www.hXen.com)
"People feel a confidence and enthusiasm for the development of the relationship across the Straits, and they hope that the co-operation will develop steadily for a mutually beneficial relationship between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan."
Wu Poh-hsiung's itinerary includes southwestern city of Chongqing, and eastern cities of Hangzhou and Nanjing.
He will meet Hu Jintao, Chairman of the Communist Party of China, to review the developments of exchanges and interactions across the Straits.
They are expected to reach a common understanding on how to promote cross-Straits relations in the future.
Wu Poh-hsiung will also attend activities to remember Dr. Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Kuomintang.
