CRI听力: China, U.S. Prepare for New Landmark Talks on Geithner's Visit
China and the United States are to hold high-level strategic and economic talks in Washington during July.
The two sides reached the agreement as top Chinese leaders held a series of talks with US treasury secretary Timothy Geithner, who has concluded a visit to Beijing on Tuesday.
Geithner says he is optimistic for the two leading economies.(www.hXen.com)
"I think we've already demonstrated the capacity of our two countries to work together on the global stage to lay a foundation for economic recovery and I think, partly because of the strength of the actions that have been put into place by your government and by President Obama, we are starting to see some early signs of stabilization and recovery in the global economy."
Earlier in the day, in his meeting with Geithner, Chinese President Hu Jintao said he hopes both sides will work closely and step up preparation for upcoming dialogues, saying the dialogue mechanism is an important platform for high-level communication.
During his three-day visit, Geithner had a flurry of meetings with China's top economic team, including Vice Premier Wang Qishan and the chiefs of commerce and finance.
He also met with Premier Wen Jiabao.
