CRI听力: Chinese President: China Adheres to Peaceful Use of Airspace

Hu Jintao, also Chairman of the Central Military Commission, met with air force leaders from thirty countries ahead of the 60th anniversary of People's Liberation Army air force.

The foreign air force delegations are attending an international military forum on peace and development, which is part of a series of events in the run up to the anniversary, which takes place on November 11.

Addressing visiting delegates, Hu Jintao reiterated the peaceful intentions of the country's military.

"China will firmly uphold a national defense policy that is defensive in nature, and will never seek military expansion or an arms race. We will never constitute a military threat to any other country."(www.hXen.com)

The president also said China will be vigorously involved in international cooperation on airspace security and facilitate the creation of secure airspace.

Rao Qamar Suleman, Chief of Staff of the Air Force of Pakistan, expressed congratulations on the 60th founding anniversary of the PLA air force on behalf of the foreign air force delegations.
He also praised China's efforts to build peace.

"We appreciate China's role as a stabilizing force in Asia and indeed all over the world. We fully applaud China's quest for harmony among nations. Peace indeed depends on the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit and equilibrium which are so meticulously followed by People's Republic of China."

In addition to the forum, the PLA air force will also celebrate the anniversary with an air show and an exhibition of weapons and equipment of the air force.
