CRI听力:Winners of International Emmy Awards Announced

2013-12-01来源:CRI

Over 1000 international television professionals attended a Gala event hosted by John Oliver.

"... Good evening. Welcome to the International, the International Emmy Awards..."

John Oliver is probably one of the best candidates to host such an international event. The British comedian succeeded in the United States for his work on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. The Emmy-Award winning comedian will soon move to HBO for a brand-new topical comedy series.

Oliver's personal experience illustrated close cooperation between different countries' television industry. Through frequent exchanges in terms of both personnel and production, television viewers have more opportunities to see programs from other countries; while industry insiders can learn from each other via platforms including the International Emmy Awards Television Festival.

Liu Changle, chairman of the International Emmy Awards Television Festival has witnessed the emerging of Chinese media.

"Chinese media are rising. An important symbol of this process is to participate in globalization and international competition. And we think the International Emmy Awards is an important platform."

This year Chinese actress Sun Li got her first Emmy nomination for her role in the television drama The Back Palace: Legend of Zhen Huan. But Brazil film and television legend Fernanda Montenegro finally beat Sun Li and won the Best Performance by an Actress category while British lead Sean Bean won the Best Performance by an Actor category for his role in Accused.

Although Sun Li failed to grab the award, Liu Changle is optimistic about future of Chinese television industry.

"What we have witnessed is that more and more Chinese media are participating, more and more outstanding Chinese people are nominated. At the very beginning it was rare to see a Chinese, but in recent years Chinese media attended every year. We believe in the future the Chinese media will become more inclusive and competitive on the international stage."

This evening the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented 2 Special Awards and 10 Emmy statues to winners 6 countries, namely, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, South Korea and the United Kingdom.
