CRI听力:China: A Rising Robotics Market
Robot companies from around the world show confidence in the growing Chinese market at the recent China International Robot Show 2014 in Shanghai.
The three-day expo, which ended on Friday, attracted more than 200 companies from over 50 countries and regions, nearly twice as many as last year.
Arturo Baroncelli, president of the International Federation of Robotics, said China is becoming an engine for the global advancement of robotics due to its great market potential.
"If you compare the robot density of China, which means how many robots are there per operator, compared to what there is in Germany, Italy, United States, it's very low. So there is a lot of space of improvement for China, so we forecast a very bright future for robotics in this country."
He said Chinese companies bought 37,000 robots last year - about one fifth of total global sales. And he added the market is still on the rise.
China's Robotics Federation said foreign companies make about three fourth of the country's industrial robots, mostly for the booming manufacturing sector.
