CRI听力:Chinese Evacuees from Libya Arrive in Greece
Hundreds of Chinese nationals are being evacuated from Libya due to a deteriorating security situation there.
A group of 79 evacuees has arrived at the Greek port of Piraeus aboard a Greek warship.
Zhang Zhibiao, one of the Chinese evacuees, says the security situation in Libya is deteriorating.
"There has been a lack of stability in Libya since 2011. Lawlessness has given rise to crime, including robbery and theft, which was uncommon before the war. Overall security is also worsening."
The Chinese embassy in Greece is providing food and accommodation, as well as security, consular and logistical services.
Xiao Yewen is an official with the Chinese embassy in Greece.
"The 79 evacuees from Libya arrived at the hotel today at noon. Later, the embassy made some other arrangements to help them get settled. We've opened an office for this and have assigned our staff to work there. We have also prepared phones and phone cards for the evacuees at our liaison office so they can contact their families. Many of them have already spoken with their families."
Another 134 Chinese evacuees have taken a homebound flight from neighboring Tunisia, where 277 more people will leave in groups starting on Sunday.
China completed its last organized evacuation from Libya as 97 workers crossed the border into Tunisia on Saturday.
This is the second time China has evacuated its citizens from Libya. In 2011, the Chinese government removed 35,000 nationals after unrest hit the country.
