CRI听力:Russia Humanitarian Aid Convoy Faces Uncertainty
A Russian aid convoy bound for east Ukraine still faces uncertainty.
This comes after Ukraine officials have voiced unwillingness to accept the humanitarian assistance directly from Russia.
Ukraine presidential spokesman Svyatoslav Tsegolko says Kiev will allow Russian humanitarian aid to be delivered only if the Red Cross examines and distributes it.
"The Committee of the Red Cross proposed to become a guarantor of delivery of international aid for the humanitarian mission to Luhansk. This organisation discussed with the Russian Federation international humanitarian aid to Luhansk which will include Russian humanitarian cargo."
Nearly 300 Russian trucks carrying around 2-thousand tons of Russian humanitarian aid are heading towards Luhansk, eastern Ukraine. The convoy departed Russia on Tuesday.
Andre Loersch is a spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross mission in Ukraine.
"We don't know the final route of the aid. I tried to get information where exactly this convoy is right now before coming here, but I don't know the exact location still."
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army has stepped up its shelling campaignon agaisnt the rebel-held city of Donetsk.
