CRI听力:Angry Protesters Against US Missouri Shooting

2014-09-12来源:CRI

A number of protesters have been arrested in the US state of Missouri for trying to block a major highway near the embattled community of Ferguson.

This is the community where racial anger has erupted after a white officer shot and killed an unarmed black teenager last month.

The protesters are demanding the arrest of the officer who shot and killed Michael Brown.

The demonstrators are also calling for ouster of Ferguson's Mayor and Police Chief.

"Our problem ain't in Afghanistan, it's right here with these racist police officers, that's where our problem is. Our problem ain't in no other country. Our black folk problem is right here in America with these racist white folks," said one protester who was dressed-up as a police officer.

The protesters attempted to block an interstate close to where Brown was killed.

Police had to intervene.

Tensions in the St. Louis suburb have already boiled over into mass riots, prompting the state governor to bring in the US National Guard for a while to help keep order.
