CRI听力:Red Cross Team Attacked while Removing Ebola Dead
A Red Cross team has been attacked in southeastern Guinea while collecting bodies believed to be infected with Ebola.
At least one Red Cross worker suffered a neck wound.
The Red Cross says family members of the dead initially set upon the six volunteers and vandalized their cars.
Eventually a crowd went to the regional health office, where they threw rocks at the building.
Dr Lansana Camara is the head of the local hospital.
"We were informed that the first woman was dead, we were preparing for the funeral, we informed the Red Cross workers to go and disinfect the scene after all the work was done. As they were putting the body in the jeep, they came and attacked the Red Cross workers, tore the disinfectant bag where the body was and removed it and then started throwing stones at the workers."
The attack is the latest in a string of assaults on teams working to bury bodies and disinfect public places.
Last week, eight people including health workers and journalists were abducted in Guinea while educating locals about Ebola.
The virus is believed to have infected over 5,800 people in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Nigeria and Senegal.
Local governments have imposed severe measures including nationwide lockdown to look for the sick and spread information.
