CRI听力:China's Ebola Aid Timely: WFP
The Chinese government's latest contribution in the fight against Ebola in West Africa is being lauded by the UN's World Food Program.
China has pledged 6 million U.S. dollars to help alleviate food shortages in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, the three African countries worst hit by the Ebola virus.
Brett Rierson is with the World Food Program's China office.
"The World Food Program and people of West Africa are especially thankful to this contribution of six million dollars from People's Republic of China at this difficult time when we need to reverse Ebola's advance. This substantial and, I stress to the members of the press here, timely contribution to the World Food Program will be divided equally between the three countries, enabling the World Food Program to purchase vital supplies."
China has also sent hundreds of aid workers to Africa to help in the fight against the Ebola outbreak.
China is also providing more than 35-million US dollars in medical aid to the worst affected countries.
