CRI听力:Tanzanian President Visits China
Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete has arrived in Beijing for a six-day state visit.
His visit comes as Tanzania and China mark their 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Speaking to CRI, Tanzanian Ambassador Abdulrahman Shimbo says the two countries have shared a rich history over the past half-century.
"For fifty years, China and Tanzania have been very close like families. We know each other better through frequent exchanges. Two Tanzanian Universities have opened Chinese courses. We plan to add Chinese to some of our high schools' curriculum as well. More and more Chinese come to travel in Tanzania. In this way, I think we can better understand each other's cultures."
Lin Zhiyong, China's Economic and Commercial representative in Tanzania, says bilateral ties between the two countries are now mutually beneficial.
"Like China's relation with Africa, China-Tanzania relations have transformed from China aiding Africa's development to the two sides engaging in mutual, extensive economic and trade cooperation. The scale of the cooperation is uNPRecedented."
Tanzanian President's visit to China follows President Xi Jinping's visit to Tanzania in March of last year.
