CRI听力:Canadian Experimental Ebola Vaccine Vials Arrive in Geneva
The first batch of an experimental Ebola vaccine from Canada has arrived at a hospital in Geneva.
The shipment, which contains 250 vials, has been donated by the Canadian government.
The Canadian-produced vaccine is one of two promising ones identified by the WHO.
The samples are going to undergo weeks of testing in Switzerland, with the plan to begin wide-scale vaccine trials in West Africa by January.
On the ground in West Africa, a group of Cuban doctors and nurses have arrived in Liberia to help in the fight against Ebola.
Liberia's deputy health minister, Matthew Flomo, says the Cuban medical workers will be set up in the country's newly-built Ebola Treatment Units.
"As we now have additional ETUs, we will now be going in the jungles, in the towns to make sure that all sick people whom are sick from the Ebola disease will be brought to the ETUs so that you can all assist to treat them and make them to be well."
Meanwhile, Bolivian President Evo Morales has announced his government is going to contribute a million US dollars to the United Nations in the fight against the Ebola virus.
