CRI听力:Canada Not Immune to Terrorist Attacks: Harper
Canada's Prime Minister says his country is not immune to terrorist attacks.
Stephen Harper has made the comment after the fatal shooting of a Canadian soldier inside Canada's parliament building on Wednesday.
"In the days to come, we will learn more about the terrorist and any accomplices he may have had, but this week's events are a grim reminder that Canada is not immune to the types of terrorist attacks we have seen elsewhere around the world."
Numerous shots were fired just outside the room where the Prime Minister was meeting with a group of lawmakers.
The suspected gunman was shot and killed by authorities.
The shooting comes just two-days after a pair of Canadian soldiers were run-down by a car driven by a radicalized man in the province of Quebec, leaving one of the soldiers dead and the other in hospital.
The attacks coincide with Canada sending fighter jets to assist in the air strikes against Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria.
Both the US and Australia have expressed concerns, and have voiced solidarity with Canada.
For more on this, CRI's John Artman earlier spoke to Professor Greg Barton, Director International of the Global Terrorism Research Centre based in Australia.
