CRI听力:Search for Ebola Treatment Accelerates
Medical officials are said to be making strides toward finding a possible treatement for the Ebola virus.
It's been announced that clinical trials involving experimental ebola drugs are to begin next month at three West African treatment centers.
Peter Horby is an Ebola researcher with Oxford University.
"We have these products, which may or may not work in Ebola, in patients with Ebola, and the only way we can test them is during an epidemic. So, if we're going to find a treatment, we have to do it now, which is why we have to accelerate these trials, and it's very challenging."
Results from the trials are expected sometime in late February or early March.
On the ground in Liberia, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has lifted the state of emergency previously imposed, as the number of new Ebola infections in the country is no longer increasing.
Almost 52-hundred people have died from the current Ebola outbreak in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.
