CRI听力:Former UN Ambassador Sworn in as Interim President of Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso's former UN ambassador has been sworn-in as the country's transitional president.
Michel Kafando will lead the West African country to elections in a year's time.
"Our country cannot be a Banana Republic, after the painful experience that we have to endure with the famous Article 37 scorned. We have our eyes open, the Burkinabe youth's eyes are open, Burkinabe women have their eyes open."
Kafando has been chosen by a committee, which was established to create an interim civilian administration after the military of Burkina Faso stepped in late last month to remove the country's former President.
Blaise Compaore was forced to flee to Cote d'Ivoire on October 31st after mass protests erupted against his attempt to extend his 27-year rule by altering the constitution.
