CRI听力:Protests Rage on in US Cities Following Ferguson Decision
Police in a number of US cities are preparing for another night of potential protests following this week's grand jury decision in a St. Louis suburb not to indict a white police officer for the killing an unarmed black teenager earlier this year.
Protests have been taking place in over a dozen US cities this week.
In Los Angeles, around 500 people of different races marched on the city's police headquarters.
"You know, it could be my kid, could be my kid's friends. It's got to stop."
"It's not just an individualized incident. This happens every 28 hours: a black person is killed by police every 28 hours in America. I'd love to see white America actually wake up just for a second and look at the pain we are going through."
While the demonstration in Los Angeles was largely peaceful, a number of stores were damaged and looted in Oakland, California.
In the capital, Washington, hundreds of marchers took to the streets, paralyzing several roads near the White House.
In Ferguson, Missouri, where the shooting took place, the 2nd night of unrest saw more than 40 people arrested.
However, the unrest didn't approach the chaos of the previous night, which saw arson, looting and rioting throughout the streets of the St. Louis suburb.
Meanwhile, the family of Michael Brown, the black teenager shot dead by officer Darren Wilson, say they are "crushed" by the grand jury's decision.
Brown's mother is also describing Wilson as "disrespectful" for statements he has made following the grand jury decision.
Speaking to US media outlets, Wilson says he has a "clean conscience" in the case.
Wilson could still face charges, as the Justice Department has launched a federal investigation into whether he violated Brown's civil rights.
